Using "smartctl -i" command, we could view Hard Disk Drive (HDD) serial number and related detail of Linux/Unix system. In Linux, SATA disks accessed via libata are only supported by smartmontools for kernel versions 2.6.15 and above. Try an additional "-d ata" argument.
Syntax:
smartctl -i <disk-drive> -d ataExample:
